What is Custom Framing? What are my options? Why is it so expensive? These are only a few questions that we answer in the course of a day. Let us explain.
Custom is just that….Custom. One frame at a time, to your specification and style. We pride ourselves on our frame selection, from traditional to contemporary and everything in between. Always updating with new and trend forward designs. Each frame is cut to size, the corners are finished and your artwork is then fit into the frame and it is ready to hang.
MATTING
We use only high grade conservation quality matting to surround your art, the same matting that is used in museums around the world. If it is worth framing then it is worth preserving. With our years of experience, rest assured that the matting combination we choose for your art will enhance and preserve through years of enjoyment.
GLASS
Light damages art the most. While your art is on display light is working on fading it. Just like there is conservation matting available, there is also conservation glass that cuts out 97% of the harmful UV rays protecting your art from light damage.
Ultraviolet/Conservation glass and UV plexiglas should be used to prevent fading of the artwork. All works on paper are subject to fading and deterioration from ultraviolet, incandescent and fluorescent light. Pastels and watercolors are the most vulnerable. Both UV glass and UV plexiglas protect work from light damage. UV plexiglas is non-breakable and offers security against works being scratched by broken glass in shipping. It is also a safety precaution in seismically active areas.
Also available are museum glass and museum plexiglas that are clear and non-reflective. Unlike regular non-glare glass, which has a light sandblasting on the surface and fogs the image, museum glass has no sandblasting and is virtually see-through.
